The Gardener

It is a hot summer.  She falls in love with the gardener while visiting,

much to the chagrin of her prim relatives.  Resisting the incessant ridicule,
she continues to pour her heart into the funny and passionate relationship,
enduring an abundance of smart remarks ("a gardener.....how could she
embarrass us like that.....why, the only success he has enjoyed was the day
he accidentally sprayed too much weed killer--and finally got rid of all that
nut grass in the flower beds!").  Turns out he's the son of a very wealthy
Florida ship builder.  His dad wanted him to be humbled by the "real world",
so he sent his Yale educated son on the road West with $100 cash, an old,
run down Chevy (that couldn't make it farther west than Louisiana), and the
clothes on his back.
